The U.S. Navy and JMSDF routinely conduct naval exercises together, strengthening the U.S.-Japan alliance and maintaining a free and open Indo-Pacific region. BALTIC SEA (Aug. 30, 2022) The Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3), the Swedish Visby-class corvette HSwMS Härnösand (K33), the Swedish Visby-class corvette HSwMS Nyköping (K34), the Swedish Carlskrona-class auxiliary support ship HSwMS Carlskrona (P04), the Whidbey Island-class amphibious dock landing ship USS Gunston Hall (LSD 44), the Swedish Stockholm-class corvette HSwMS Malmö (P 12), the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Arlington (LPD 24), the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Paul Ignatius (DDG 117), the Swedish Visby-class corvette HSwMS Karlstad (K35), and the Swedish Visby-class corvette HSwMS Helsingborg (K32) break away from formation after a maneuvering exercise in the Baltic Sea, Aug. 30, 2022.
